Recent reports has it that the All Progressives Congress and The Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, traded words over recent electoral violence that
erupted during the weekend which led to the reported killing of one
person and burning of 11 vehicles belonging to the Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC) in Obot Akara council of Akwa Ibom
state.

Coordinator of APC Campaign in Eket Senatorial District, Effiong Abia,
while condemning the attack, blamed the PDP for still feeling sore over
their loss in the 2015 polls.

Meanwhile, another chieftain of the party, Chris Ekong, who also
weighed in on the happenings in the state over the weekend, expressed
rude shock at the violence while commemning the INEC for
rescheduling the polls.

Reacting to the allegation, Publicity Secretary of PDP, Ini Ememobong,
accused APC of carrying out the violence to truncate the process in the
area being the stronghold of PDP adding that it was a premeditated plan
to prevent the elections there.
