BRITISH PRIME MINISTER REQUESTS DELAY ON BREXIT

Written by on March 21, 2019

On the foreign scene, the president of the EU, Donald Tusk, has told the Prime Minister of the UK, Theresa May, that it will only agree to a short delay to Brexit if MPs approve the current withdrawal agreement next week.

Reports say the PM has written to Tusk requesting a Brexit delay to 30 June, saying she needed more time to get her withdrawal deal passed by MPs.

The head of the EU, in an interview with newsmen, said he believed all 27 other EU members, who must sign off on the extension, would agree but it depended on a positive vote in the House of Commons.

Meanwhile, the UK is due to leave the EU on Friday, 29th of March.
