CBN TO EMPOWER FARMERS IN IMO STATE

The Central Bank of Nigeria says no at least 525 farmers in Imo State will benefit from agricultural inputs distribution under their Anchor Borrowers’ Programme for the 2019 wet season farming.

The Head, Corporate Communications of the Nigeria Incentive-based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL), Anne Ihugba, made this known in Abuja, adding that the benefiting farmers, who would be drawn from nine local government areas of the state would be monitored by NIRSAL.

Ihugba, listing the benefiting council areas to include Mbaitolu, Ideato North and South, Nwangele, Oguta, Ohaji-Egbema, Oru West, Isu and
Okigwe added that the objective of the programme is to address problems of low-quality inputs, pests and diseases.

The corporate chief noted further that farmers in other south-east states would also benefit from inputs distribution under the CBN agriculture programme.
