Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the suit filed by the Police Service Commission challenging the recruitment of ten thousand constables into the Nigeria Police Force by the Inspector General of Police.

Justice Ekwo delivering judgment held that after examining the evidences, he found nothing to establish the plaintiff’s case, which he described as lacking in merit.

The judge held that the power of recruitment of constables into the NPF is under the IGP, who controls the process.

It could be recalled that the Police Service Commission had sued the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector General of Police and the Minister of Police Affairs as first, second and third respondents over the matter. The Attorney General of the Federation and Justice Minister was subsequently added as a fourth respondent.
