GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION: INEC REDEPLOYS ELECTORAL OFFICERS IN RIVERS

Written by on March 7, 2019

Still on Rivers State, there are indications that some electoral officers have been redeployed ahead of Saturday’s governorship and National Assembly elections.
Reports say some of the electoral officers were said to have personally requested that they should be moved from one local government area to another giving reasons that they were not comfortable with being posted to violence-prone areas, while others called for transfer to other LGAs close to their relatives.
Meanwhile, some of the areas where INEC electoral officers have been moved are Akuku-Toru, Okrika, Ahoada West, Emohua, Obio/Akpor, Asari-Toru, Gokana, and Ikwerre Local Government Areas.
Information from the state INEC say the electoral officers in charge of Ikwerre and Akuku-Toru LGAs were also redeployed to the commission’s state headquarters.
