IGP ALERTS NIGERIANS OF POSSIBLE INCREASE IN NEW CRIMINAL TRENDS

Against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, the inspector general of police , Mohammed Abubakar Adamu has alerted nigerians of possible increase in new criminal trends especially fraudulent practices and cyber crimes.
Towards nipping the emerging trends in the bud, the IGP has placed the Nigerian branch of the international police organization on red alert to checkmate internet and overseas based fraudsters who may plan to fleece people of their money.
On his part, the deputy commissioner of police, Dcp Frank mba said the IGP’s advice is informed by the intelligence at the disposal of the Force which suggests that fraud and cybercrime are expected to rise at this time due to the lockdown placed by Government at all levels to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
