IGP MEETS WITH TOP BRASS TO REVIEW SECURITY ARRANGEMENTS FOR POLLS

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Abubakar Mohammed Adamu, yesterday met with Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs) from the 36 states and Abuja to review strategies for the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.

The IG also added that the meeting was also convened to brief strategic police commands and undertake a comprehensive evaluation of the Force’s performance during the February 23, 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Adamu noted that the Force’s Special Electoral Offences Team has been directed to undertake detailed and conclusive investigations of the cases with a view to liaising with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in ensuring the prosecution of those arrested for various electoral violations.
