IMO WORKERS REJECT OKOROCHA’S ELECTRONIC PAYMENT

Reports has it that the Imo State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) have kicked against the move by the state government to conduct a biometric verification of workers in the state.
The state government also planned to commence electronic payment for the workers and re-implementation of staff payroll.

While speaking on the development yesterday, the Imo NLC Chairman, Austin Chilakpo, said described the programme as unacceptable to the entire workers, saying the policy should be left for the incoming administration to consider and implement if necessary.

The workers’ union, while urging the state government to pay the February 2019 salary to the workers also expressed fears that the verification might lead to the arbitrary sacking of workers.
