INEC REACTS TO IMO STATE GOVERNOR’S ACCUSATION

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has reacted to the decision of the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha to drag it to court.
Governor Okorocha, yesterday, announced his decision to institute a court action against the electoral body over refusal to issue him a Certificate of Return after being declared winner of Imo West senatorial election.
Speaking to newsmen on the fate of federal lawmakers yet to be issued Certificate of Return in spite of being declared as winners of the elections, INEC’s National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye it was up to the judiciary to take the final decision
Okoye further confirmed that the four lawmakers whose certificates were witheld on the allegation that their were declared under duress had also taken the legal option adding that the commission will comply with whatever the court says.
