IWU REVEALS WHEN HIS ORDEALS WITH EFCC STARTED

Written by on August 23, 2019

Former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission Maurice Iwu, says his troubles with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission began during the last presidential election.

In a statement he personally signed and issued to reporters in Owerri, Iwu said EFCC operatives seized his international passport and prevented him from voting in the February 23, 2019 presidential poll.

He said that  none of the charges against him has to do with his tenure as Chairman of INEC.

It could be recalled that the EFCC had arraigned Iwu before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on a four-count charge bordering on money laundering.
