LABOUR EXPRESSES DISPLEASURE OVER IMF EXCLUSION OF NIGERIA ON DEBT RELIEF

THE Organized labour in Nigeria has expressed displeasure over the exclusion of Nigeria among the 25 poor countries benefitting from the debt relief services by the International Monetary Fund, IMF.

The generosity of the IMF, was to help the benefitting countries contain the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, which has negatively affected their economy.

The organized labour in a statement issued by the President of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Ayuba Wabba also called for a temporary suspension of debt payments by developing economies, re-negotiation of debt obligations, and ultimately debt pardon by creditor countries.

Wabba said that the intervention of the IMF to come to the aid of the poor countries at this critical time the Coronavirus was ravaging many countries of the world was very auspicious.
