LAGOS STATE GOVERNOR BLAMES LANDLORD OVER COLLAPSED BUILDING

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State yesterday blamed the landlord of the collapsed building on Lagos Island which claimed lives for resisting government demolition plan.
Governor Ambode, who visited the scene of the collapsed three-storeyed building on Mercy Street, Ita-Faji , Lagos, expressed sadness over the incident, stressing that the building marked for demolition would be pulled down.
He added that the the state government would take care of the hospital bills of those injured in the incident.
Reports say that at least 50 pupils, eight tenants, and 27 dead bodies had been pulled out of the rubble.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari expressed sadness over the incident, even as he charged the state government to stem the tide of building collapse.
