POLICE CHIEF DESCRIBES 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF COMMUNIST PARTY AS HONG KONG’S MOST VIOLENT DAYS

China city police chief Stephen Lo says the 70th anniversary of
Communist Party rule in China is "one of Hong Kong most
violent and chaotic days
Lo said 25 officers were injured and an 18-year-old protester
was shot in the chest with a live bullet one of six live rounds
fired by police.
He said some protesters armed with petrol bombs and other
projectiles -fought pitched battles with police in several parts of
Lo said 104 people were taken to hospital and 180 were arrested.
It could be recalled that in the days leading up to the
anniversary, tensions were high in Hong Kong, which always
sees protests on National Day.
