POLLS: INEC ADMITS HUGE FAILURE IN BAYELSA

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Bayelsa State has admitted it recorded some wrongs bordering on transparency and accountability in the conduct of the 2019 general elections in the state, resulting in a huge failure.

INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in charge of Bayelsa, Monday Udo Tom, admitted the failure during a stakeholders’ meeting on Tuesday in Yenagoa on the way forward for the state Houses of Assembly supplementary polls slated for March 23.

The meeting was also attended by the state Commissioner of Police, Sholla David; INEC’s administrative secretary, Samson Lebari in addition to chieftains of political parties, including the PDP and the APC.

The Bayelsa REC, who also noted that the commission achieved some measure of success in the conduct of the polls, pledged that the electoral umpire would remain unbiased and work with relevant stakeholders to achieve all-around success.
