Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has sent a Freedom of Information request to the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, for details of the failed four hundred and sixty dollars million closed-circuit television contract and other Chinese loans.
The deputy director, Kolawole Oluwadare, in the request urged Ahmed to disclose specific details of local contractors, if any, that received part of the loan for the contract reportedly awarded to China’s ZTE Corporation.
The group said she should clarify if the Nine point five billion naira paid in 2010 for another apparently failed contract to construct the headquarters of the Code of Conduct Bureau is part of another Chinese loan.
SERAP said it would take legal action if the requested information were not provided to it within 14 days of the receipt and/or publication of the letter.
