THUGS AMBUSH INEC STAFF IN OGUN, SHOOT POLICEMAN DEAD

A Police Sergeant, Sunday Idoko, was Sunday night shot dead  by some alleged political thugs who attempted to snatch election results that were being conveyed to Ilaro,  in Ogun State.

Late Sergeant Sunday, attached  to the Police Special Protection Unit, SPU was escorting officials of the Independent National Electoral  Commission , INEC from Ipokia to Ilaro, when they were ambushed by the armed thugs who opened fire on the vehicle in an apparent attempt to hijack the election results.

Spokesman for the Ogun State Police  Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident, said the command was still on the trail of the hoodlums adding that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Illyasu had directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department, SCIID to take over the investigation with a view to arresting perpetrators and thugs.
