The acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Abubakar Adamu, has lamented the lack of funds in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), saying it is the main issue confronting the force.

Adamu, who made the disclosure while defending the 2018 police budget before the Lawal Abubakar-led Committee on Police Affairs, urged the lawmakers to take action on the Police Reform Trust Fund Bill pending before the National Assembly as a way to bridge the funding gap.

Speaking during the budget defence, Adamu added that he is committed to restoring the fading glory of the police within the internal security structure of Nigeria.

He however assured Nigerians that the Nigeria Police is blessed with officers and men who are not only intellectually gifted and exceptionally dedicated but professionally sound enough to face the security challenges facing the nation.
