Twenty political parties have called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withhold the Certificate of Return of the Imo State Governor-elect, Emeka Ihedioha.

At a news conference in Owerri yesterday, the governorship candidate of Masses Movement of Nigeria (MMN), Jerry Iheanacho, who spoke on behalf of others, said they have decided to challenge the outcome of the governorship election at the tribunal.

They contended that Ihedioha’s declaration as governor-elect was not in tandem with the provisions of the Constitution.

He further said that the PDP candidate didn’t meet the constitutional requirement to have been declared governor-elect adding that Ihedioha did not get the required 25 % of two-third of the local government areas.
