Director-General of the commission,Is’haq Modibbo Kawu, disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja on Friday where he disclosed that they had set up a National Monitoring System involving all members of the board of management of NBC to monitor stations on 24 hours basis.

Kawu said the erring stations, which cut across the country, violated provisions of the Nigerian Broadcasting Code, thereby incurring a fine of N500,000 each.

He further stated that the measures had become necessary as the country gears up for its next elections adding that any of the stations that continued to broadcast hate and inflammatory comments that threaten the security of the country would be shutdown.
